Microsoft Outlook 2000 - Entry Overview

Field Corresponding Entry
Email/Reply to address: sample@mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(sample = the specific address at your domain name)
Incoming (POP3) mail server: pop.mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(If you would like to access your mail via an IMAP client, you will need to use imap.mydomain as the IMAP server)
User/Account name: sample@mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(If you are using a mail client, such as Netscape, that does not allow you to use the "@" symbol in the User/Account name field, you may substitute the "@" in your address with the "_" character. For example: username_mydomain)
Password: password
(password = the password you chose for that email address)
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(no username or password are required for outgoing mail)

Step by Step Setup Instructions

To setup a new e-mail account:

  1. Open Outlook 2000
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Select Create a new Internet Mail Account, and click Next
  4. In the Display Name field type in your name, then click Next
  5. In the E-mail address field type in your Username followed by @mydomain.com, then click Next
  6. Incoming Mail Server should be POP3
  7. In the Incoming Mail Server field type: pop.mydomain.com
    (replace mydomain.com with your unique domain name)
  8. In the Outgoing Mail Server field type: smtp.mydomain.com, then click Next
    (replace mydomain.com with your unique domain name)
  9. In the Account Name field type in your login/user name - NOT your entire e-mail address
  10. In the Password field type in your Password, then click Next
  11. Select Use an Existing connection, then click Next
  12. Click Finish
