E-Mail Configuration
 

Netscape Messenger- version 6.x - Entry Overview

Field Corresponding Entry
Email/Reply to address: sample@mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(sample = the specific address at your domain name)
Incoming (POP3) mail server: pop.mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(If you would like to access your mail via an IMAP client, you will need to use imap.mydomain as the IMAP server)
User/Account name: sample@mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(If you are using a mail client, such as Netscape, that does not allow you to use the "@" symbol in the User/Account name field, you may substitute the "@" in your address with the "_" character. For example: username_mydomain)
Password: password
(password = the password you chose for that email address)
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(no username or password are required for outgoing mail)

Step by Step Setup Instructions

To setup a new e-mail account:

  1. Open Netscape Messenger 6, then click on Tasks
  2. Select Mail
  3. Mail/News Account Settings is the location to configure mail and news
  4. To set up a new e-mail account, click New Account
  5. Select ISP or email provider, then click Next
  6. Enter your name and email address, then click Next
  7. Select POP Mail Server and enter your Incoming and Outgoing Server Names (pop.mydomain.com and smtp.mydomain.com), then click Next
    (replace mydomain.com with your unique domain name)
  8. Enter your username, then click Next
  9. Enter your Account Name (ie.. mydomain.com), then click Next
  10. Verify your username and email account information
  11. Select Finish
  12. To retrieve your mail, open Home Account
