E-Mail Configuration
 

Netscape Messenger- version 4.5 - Entry Overview

Field Corresponding Entry
Email/Reply to address: sample@mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(sample = the specific address at your domain name)
Incoming (POP3) mail server: pop.mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(If you would like to access your mail via an IMAP client, you will need to use imap.mydomain as the IMAP server)
User/Account name: sample@mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(If you are using a mail client, such as Netscape, that does not allow you to use the "@" symbol in the User/Account name field, you may substitute the "@" in your address with the "_" character. For example: username_mydomain)
Password: password
(password = the password you chose for that email address)
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.mydomain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)
(no username or password are required for outgoing mail)

Step by Step Setup Instructions

To setup a new e-mail account:

  1. Open Netscape Communicator
  2. From the tool bar click Edit and select Preferences
  3. From Mail & Groups select Identity
  4. In the Your Name text box type your name
  5. In the E-mail Address text box type your email address
  6. From Mail & Groups select Mail Servers
  7. In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server text box type: smtp.mydomain.com
    (replace mydomain.com with your unique domain name)
  8. In the Outgoing Mail Server User Name text box type your username
  9. Click Add
  10. In the Server Name text box type: pop.mydomain.com
    (replace mydomain.com with your unique domain name)
  11. Select POP3 Server from the drop down box labeled Server Type
  12. Enter your username in User Name field, then click OK
  13. Click OK again
  14. You are now ready to send and receive mail
